Can you rent a humanoid robot, and what does it cost?

Yes. In 2026 humanoid robots are rented by the hour, the day and the month, mostly for events. Published rates run from about $299 a day for a multi-day, self-operated Unitree G1 (ZMProbots, US, UK and Europe) to $500 an hour or $2,800 a day with a technician (The Robot Studio, US). AgiBot rents its A2 reception humanoid from $1,000 a day with delivery and setup, and industrial makers such as UBTech offer robots-as-a-service at around $5,000 a month. Rental companies themselves say renting beats buying below roughly 100 working days a year.

How much does it cost to rent a humanoid robot?

| Provider | Robot | Published rate | What is included | |---|---|---|---| | ZMProbots (US, Canada, UK, EU) | Unitree G1 | from $299 a day, 3 to 30 days, self-operated; from $1,875 a day full-service event | delivery, damage cover, operator on full-service bookings | | The Robot Studio (Dallas, nationwide US) | Unitree G1 and others | $500 an hour (2 to 3 hour minimum), $1,800 an event (up to 5 h), $2,800 a day (up to 8 h) | delivery, trained technician, setup, travel quoted outside Dallas | | AgiBot partners | A2 | from $1,000 a day | delivery, setup, local partner support | | FutuRobots (monthly) | G1, R1 | from $2,200 a month (G1), $1,150 a month (R1) | hardware; support varies | | UBTech dealers | Walker S2 | about $5,000 a month RaaS | industrial deployment, vendor-managed |

Market surveys put the general range at $500 to $5,000 a day depending on model, branding and staffing, with multi-day event packages between $3,000 and $15,000 including content and logistics. Monthly hire usually saves 20 to 40 percent on the daily rate. Insurance, setup and shipping are often extra on the cheaper offers; read the line items.

What do you actually get when you rent one?

Usually a robot that walks, waves, shakes hands, dances to a set routine and talks through a connected language model, with a person standing next to it. The technician is not an optional extra in most packages: they set up, supervise, handle the emergency stop and pack the robot away. Self-operated rentals exist (ZMProbots' multi-day plan) but assume you can run the app, manage battery swaps and keep guests at a safe distance.

Providers also customise the routine, the voice and the personality, and most will theme the robot for a brand. Wi-Fi and an open space are the standard venue requirements, plus a standard power outlet.

Should you rent or buy a humanoid robot?

Rent if you need the robot for moments; buy if you need it for a programme. The arithmetic behind that rule:

  • A G1 costs $13,500 direct or $17,990 on Amazon US, and a working first year lands around $20,000 to $30,000 once you add shipping, a spare battery, a case, an operator's time and repairs.
  • At $2,800 a day with an operator, ten booked days equal the purchase price, but not the year-one cost.
  • Rental companies quote the switch point at about 100 working days a year with your own operator. Below that, renting is cheaper and carries no depreciation risk; above it, owning wins.

We compared the day rates of four providers against the year-one cost of owning a G1 and the crossover sits between 8 and 12 full-day bookings a year at published rates. The detailed version, with the full cost stack, is in How much does a humanoid robot cost?.

The third option is the one the current owners chose: buy, then rent it out. That turns the same rate card from a cost into an income line. It is the subject of Can a humanoid robot pay for itself?.

Who rents humanoid robots in 2026?

Event agencies and brands for launches, trade fairs and activations; hotels, casinos and showrooms for a lobby attraction; schools, museums and science centres for STEM days; and businesses running a pilot before a purchase. A three-month pilot costs far less than a failed deployment, which is why makers such as UBTech and 1X lead with monthly plans.

Where can you rent a humanoid robot?

The US has the deepest market, with providers in Texas, California and New York; ZMProbots also ships to Canada, the UK and Europe. AgiBot's rental runs through local partners in China and selected markets. In the Gulf and Asia-Pacific, rentals usually go through event agencies that own one or two robots. If no provider lists your city, the fastest route is an owner who rents on the side, which is how a large share of event bookings are actually filled.
